Island of Madeira
The fourth edition of the Estalagem da Ponta do Sol Residency for Contemporary Music and Electronics, on the island of Madeira (Portugal) is currently accepting applications until 21st of November for this year’s residency, to be held from 10 – 20 December 2018.
Alongside rehearsals, masterclasses, presentations and performances, we hold workshops and concerts open to the public, with invited artists Patricia Alessandrini (Stanford University); cellist Eva Boesch (Ensemble Garage Köln/Trio Catch); french hornist, recording artist and educator Sören Hermansson, flautist Keiko Murakami (Ensemble Linea/ Ensemble l’Imaginaire); and composer, sound artist, performer and researcher Gilbert Nouno (IRCAM/Goldsmiths/Royal College of Music).
All enrolled residents have the possibility of actively participating in one of three ateliers led by our invited artists, in addition to rehearsals, individual meetings, concert performances, and free-time nature outings and cultural events. This includes the opportunity to have newly-composed or existing works workshopped and/or performed by invited artists, and presenting other collaborative or solo work in concert.
