Centre Pompidou, Grande salle
Alexander Schubert /
Franck Vigroux & Antoine Schmitt
IRCAM Live is an electronic evening dedicated to musicians who play with the codes of the digital age and Ircam technologies. This program initiated in the framework of the Ircam Forum Workshops is conceived with les Spectacles vivants of the Centre Pompidou.
The young German composer Alexander Schubert is one of the most fiercely energetic and sharp of his generation. In the spirit of a video, Codec Error organizes and illuminates the stopped movements of the soloists of the Ensemble intercontemporain. In this virtuoso score of gestures and light, Schubert transfers the stereotypes of the digital world to the bodies of musicians: a complete takeover of the human by the machine.
French artist Franck Vigroux is a well-known figure in noise electronics, improvisation and cut-up. His creation is the result of a collaboration with the visual artist Antoine Schmitt. In the image of the cerebral illusion that affects the perception of the duration of a moment or a twitch, Chronostasis dilates to the extreme the present moment, which freezes and diffracts indefinitely.
Soloists of the Ensemble intercontemporain: Samuel Favre, Victor Hanna: percussion,
Nicolas Crosse: Double bass & Benoit Meudic: Ircam computer music production
