Hi,
In the Spat documentation, I cannot find an explication for this parameter of the Spat.oper “Automatic speakers time alignment”.
Does it calculate the speakers’ delay times automatically following the distance configured in the loudspeakers’ setting, or what else?

Thank you.

Hi Lorenzo,

Yes, that’s exactly what it does.
Basically, [spat.spat~] embeds the [spat.align~] object. (which has a bit more documentation)
However, for the sake of clarity, I would encourage to separate the two operations, using [spat.spat~] (with alignment OFF) followed by [spat.align~].

So, also for the Speakers time alignment you would use a specific external module?

Yes. I think that would make the patch more readable.
Also, be aware (I’m sure you are) that such time/gain alignment is sometimes applied by the sound engineer on the mixing desk; if that is the case, turn it off in your patch (so that it’s not applied twice).

Yes, normally I manage this kind of stuff with the sound engineer, but I was curious about this possibility embed in the Spat when working in a studio or in absence of a mixer.
Thanks a lot
