Binaural – relating to room walls

Hello,

We are working on a small app where the user is navigating a room. We’ve successfully implemented the advice in these two threads to move the listener around:
http://forumnet.ircam.fr/user-groups/spat/forum/topic/cant-make-listener-editable/
http://forumnet.ircam.fr/user-groups/spat/forum/topic/spat-spat-set-listener-message-bug/

Now, while it is possible to visually define areas in spat.viewer, can we relate them to the room being simulated? Is Spat able to reproduce standing next to a wall, for instance?

Cheers,
Grig

Hello,

You could have a look at the [spat.shoebox] object which computes the location of the image sources for a shoebox-shaped room.
Otherwise, you would have to (manually) tweak the perceptual factors so as to mimic such “next to a wall” effect.

Best,
T.
