Hi T.

Hope everything is well.

Are there any recommendations for the rate one should send data to SPAT?

I experience that if I send a lot of data, then it ques up, and spat get a bit un-responsive. Spat continues to rotate the sources for a while, if I stop sending messages, giving me the impression that I am sending too much data, and it stacks up somewhere inside the object.

Max: 7.2.4, OSX 10.10.5, SPAT: 4.8.0

See you !

Hi Lasse,

It is usually unnecessary to have high message rate (our ears would not make the difference).
Speedlimiting at 30 – 50 milliseconds is common practice.

Also, the messages get queued with spat.oper when the window is open (if closed, the messages remain at high priority).
spat.viewer is not affected and should be able to cope with high message rates, no matter if the window is opened or closed.
(spat.oper will be improved accordingly in future releases)
